Local Sports Briefs: June 16
The following is a wrap up of local sports news and highlights for June 16, 2015. You can hear these live on air on 99.1 CKXS FM.
- The Wallaceburg Red Devils are hoping to improve their record in the Far West Division of Jr B Lacrosse loop. The Red Devils sit in second place with a 6-10 record and will take on the London Blue Devils tonight.
- Wallaceburg’s Emma Gorski and Walpole Island’s Kaitlyn Isaac brought home the hardware from the Ponytail Challenge Hockey Tournament in Vaughn. Gorski notched two shutouts on the first day of play and was named MVP of the Championship game. The local girls play for the West Coast Selects hockey team.
- Late from the weekend…the Chatham under 16 Strikers girls soccer team beat St Thomas 2-1. Ceara Travis scored both goals for the Strikers who are in first place in the London and District Youth Soccer league with a 2-1-2 record.
