Strikers Hit Gold At Soccerfest

The Chatham Strikers U14 girls soccer team travelled to St.Thomas May 30 and 31 to compete in the L3-L5 competitive soccer tournament facing teams from throughout Southwestern Ontario. The Strikers had a successful weekend bringing home the championship trophy from the St. Thomas Soccerfest Tournament.

The Strikers faced Brantford Galaxy in the opener winning 1-0 with the goal being scored by Jessica Conrod. Next up, Chatham played WSC Fusion (Windsor Soccer Club) defeating them 4-0. Goal scorers in the win were Jessica Conrod, Taryn Dudley, Kennedey Jack, and Shelbie Coristine.

This put the team as the #1 seed giving them a bye to the semi finals.

In the semi-finals, Chatham matched up against the St.Thomas Warriors, defeating them 2-0. Niah Babcock and Kennedey Jack scored for the Strikers, sending them to the final.

Chatham met North London Galaxy in the final. Strong play in the midfield by Alexa Arbour, Payton Sabourin, Shelbie Coristine, Taryn Dudley, Jessica Conrod, and Emily Barstead allowed the Strikers to control the game. Niah Babcock scored a pair of goals for the Strikers, leading them to a 2-0 victory and tournament title.

The strikers earned 4 shutouts this weekend due to outstanding defensive play by Joelle Tetrault, Alison Stephens, and Clair Boughner, and a great job by Keeper Hunter Gagner .
