Day two at the Canadian Age Group Championships has finished with two local swimmers making the podium in their individual events. Madison Broad of the Chatham Y Pool Sharks topped the podium in Women’s 14 year old 50m Backstroke winning the gold medal with a personal best time of 29.41.

“My race for 50m Back went extremely well,” said Broad. “I took off time and I improved on my kicking during the race as well as my underwater off the start.”

“Today is one of the most tiring days of the meet because I am just starting to get use to the pool and all the heat from being on the pool deck really tires me out.”

Brendan Vanherk of Blenheim Blast Swim Team medaled in Men’s 15 yr. old 400m IM finishing 3rd with a personal best time of 4:45.39. With a time of 29.29, Brendan also finished 11th in prelims in Men’s 15 year old 50m Backstroke. Genevieve Sasseville of the Chatham Y Pool Sharks competed in 100m Freestyle where she went a personal best time of 1:04.34 and finished 11th in the Women’s 12 & Under category.

Day 3 will bring 50m Freestyle for Genevieve and Madison while Brendan will compete in 100m Breaststroke and 200m Butterfly.
