Local Sports Briefs: August 18, 2015
The Port Lambton Pirates Mosquito baseball team is perfect. The Pirates went undefeated through the regular season and playoffs to win the River league Championship. Port Lambton beat Blenheim 8-3 in the Championship game.- Luke VanRychenham of Kent Bridge drove in one run for Canada in a 7-2 loss to Australia in Under-18 World Cup Baseball Exhibition play. Canada is prepping for the Under18-World Cup of Baseball to be played in Japan.
- Joey Ameila fired an even par 72 to win the Maple City Country Club Men’s Amateur Championship. Amelia won in a two-hole playoff.
- The Chatham Eagles beat Nairn 4-0 in Western Ontario Women’s Soccer action while Chatham United edged Taxandria “B” in Fourth Division play in the Western Ontario Men’s Soccer League.
