Hawks Shutout Lancers In Football Opener
The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks defeated the Ursuline College Lancers 24-0 Thursday night to open the LKSSAA 12-man football schedule.
Nolan Ball threw for 182-yards and two touchdowns in the Golden Hawks’ win, going 12-for-18 passing.
His favourite target of the evening was newcomer Jake Anderson, who transferred to CKSS from John McGregor last year. Anderson made 5 receptions for 119-yards including a touchdown. Spencer Mason also had a 25-yard reception for a touchdown.
On the ground, Reece Richmond rushed the ball 8 times for 68-yards, while Josh Andrusiak had 7 rushes for 38-yards, and Matt Han rushed the ball 5 times for 45-yards, including a touchdown.
Trevor Niven was perfect in point after kicks, and also hit a 25-yard field goal.
Defensively, the CKSS Hawks were able to shut down the Lancers, paced by Stewart Sharpe (2 fumble recoveries), Jacob Dodman (6 tackles), Jacob Brush (9 tackles), and Eric Penny (7 tackles).
