– The Wallaceburg Lakers are looking for their first win tonight as they host the Alvinston Flyers in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey league. The Blenheim Blades will also be hitting the ice for the second straight night as they take on the Lakeshore Canadiens in Lakeshore. Last night the Essex 73’s cored three first period goals to beat the Blades 4-0.
– Thamesville’s Trent Fox and Chatham’s Joseph Raaymakers were named in Central Scouting’s “Players To Watch List” for September. Fox plays for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL while Raaymakers is the netminder for the Soo Greyhounds. Both players are rated a “C” players which means they are projected to go between the fourth and sixth round but their stock is expected to rise.
– Thamesville’s MacKenzie Noah was named the OCAA Woman’s Softball “Player Of The Week” yesterday. Noah is a rookie with the St. Clair Saints and is hitting .316 with seven RBI’s in 12 games for St. Clair.
– The CK Golden Hawks took both games from the UCC Lancers in Girls “AA-AAAA” action. In the Sr. Game CK got 10 Points from Burke Bechard to drop the Lancers 43-33 while in the Jr. match-up Avia Stone scored 10 to lead the Hawks to a 44-10 win over the Pines.
– In Sr. Girls “A” play the Lambton-Kent Cardinals used a very balanced attack to beat Blenheim 37-22. Ally Sanderson, Hannah Badder and Brooke Marchand scored seven points each for the Cards. Other games saw Chatham Christian beat North Lambton 22-16 thanks to seven points from Adele Steel. In the Jr. games Blenheim beat LKCS 32-25 as Keely Pardo scored 10 for the Cats while ESPC topped Tilbury 29-20 thanks to 12 points from Joelle Tetrault.
– The OCAA Golf Championships will wrap up today at Hunter’s Point Golf Club. Laura Martin of Chatham fired an 83 and is in seventh place in the women’s division going onto today’s final round while Wallaceburg’s Andrew Reaume shot a 71 and is tied for 11th place on the Men’s card
