TJ Brodie Out With Broken Hand
Dresden’s TJ Brodie is listed as week-to-week, and will miss the remainder of the NHL preseason after the defenseman broke his hand in a preseason contest against the Edmonton Oilers.
The Calgary Flames blueliner broke a bone in his hand blocking a shot in the third period of Wednesday’s game.
“It’s definitely not the way I wanted to start, but there’s nothing I can do about it now,” said Brodie following the game. “It’s just trying to stay in shape and heal up as quick as possible and be ready for when I can come back.”
Brodie, who will miss 3-6 weeks, had a career year last season recording 11 goals and 30 assists in 81 games.
Brodie is considered a key component to the Flames’ blueline, which is now considered one of the best in the NHL, and also includes Mark Giodano, Dougie Hamilton, Dennis Wideman, and Kris Russell.
