After years of fighting his way to the upper echelons of the mixed martial arts world, the career of Dresden’s Chris Clements may be coming to a close after the fighter was one of several fighters released from the UFC this week.

Clements, who was coming off a loss, was released due to many new fighters being brought in to replace injured fighters, combined with other fighters returning from injury simultaneously, meaning the UFC needed to make room on their roster.

“It’s a relief to know after all of the years of work I put into making it to the UFC that it didn’t end because of something I had done wrong or lack of talent,” wrote Clements on social media, stating he felt good about the circumstances under which he was released.

Now 39, Chris Clements has a 12-6 professional record spanning back to 2005.

In the UFC, Clements has a 2-2 record, as well as one no decision. His most recent fight came in April 2015, a loss to Nordine Taleb by unanimous decision.

Clements’ UFC wins can against Keith Wisniewski by split decision, and Vik Grujic by TKO. He has been fighting in the UFC since 2012.
