Chatham-Kent Secondary School runner Delainey Johnson had a strong showing at the Pre-OFSAA cross country meet, the Sinclair Highlands Invitational in Duntroon, Ontario, finishing 2nd.

Facing 245 runners in the Junior Girls division, Johnson was 2nd overall finishing the 4km race in 16:06.07, less than 8 seconds behind winner Sophie Warren of Petawawa.

Racing against older competition, CKSS’ Chloe Pugh was the next local to cross the finish line, placing 41st.

In the senior boys division, CKSS’ Quinn Cannella had a strong finish as well, placing 11th with a time of 23:35.95 for the 7km race. Cannella’s senior boys race included 460 runners.

OFSAA cross country will take place November 7 at the same Highlands Nordic course in Duntroon.

    How exciting it is to see the writes up on the talented young people in our area. Parents and teachers are to be applauded for nurturing this in our children.
