Junior Hawks Win Title In Strathroy

This past weekend saw the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks Junior Girls basketball team once again walk away with a championship in Strathroy, improving their record to 21-1 for the season.

CKSS defeated Strathroy 57-18 Friday night and then went on to play a solid Wallaceburg team, winning 45-36 to advance to the finals against Medway.

The Golden Hawks girls came out strong and never looked back, with a convincing win, 50-32.

“It was truly a team effort with stellar defence and ball movement that contributed to the team’s success,” said head coach Jessica Rowden of the weekend.

Top scorers over the weekend included Jessica Jordan and Taryn Dudley, both with 28 points, Jessica Conrod with 18, and Reagan Kellier with 17 points. Tournament co-MVP went to Jessica Jordan and Taryn Dudley.
