October 29: Local Sports Briefs
– The Mooretown Flags scored four third period goals as they beat the Wallaceburg Lakers 6-4 last night in Great Lakes Junior C play. Justin Lindsey scored twice for the Lakers while Jacob Theoret and Brenden Ritchie scored the other Lakers goals.
– Ian Faubert scored twice for the Chatham Maroons as they won their fifth in a row in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League by beating the LaSalle Vipers 6-4.
– The Wallaceburg Tartans got 15 points from Megan McCarter as they beat the John McGregor Panther 53-21 in Jr. Girls “AA-AAA” basketball action. McKenna Barclay chipped in 10 for the Tartans. The CKSS Golden Hawks dropped the St Pats Fighting Irish 43-36 as Maggie Denys scored 14 points for the Hawks and Taryn Dudley pumped in 10 points.
– In “A” Girls Hoops action North Lambton nipped Blenheim 26-25 while on the Jr side it was the Bobcats beating the Eagles 38-21 with Lydia Hall scoring 18 for Blenheim.
– In “A” Volleyball play both the Jr. and Sr. round robin tournaments finished up the same with Blenheim scoring a 5-1 record, St FX with a 4-2 record , Lambton Kent finishing at 3-3 and Tilbury ending up 0-6.
