October 20: Local Sports Briefs

 

The Wheatley Omstead Sharks have unveiled a new logo and look for next season.

 

– The Wheatley Sharks notched a big win last night as they doubled up the Alvinston Flyers 6-3. Mitchell Prudence led the way for the Sharks with two goals while Caylyn Kir, Kristian Brookelbank, Brett Bowman and Evan Mastronardi all had singletons. The Sharks are undeafeated in their last five games. The Wallaceburg Lakers will be looking for their first win of the season tonight on enemy ice as they travel to Essex to play the defending Champion Essex 73’s.
– – Wallaceburg’s Jonah Pataki was named the Queens Golden Gaels offensive player of the week after he led the Gaels to a 33-32 win over York by rushing for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
– – The CKSS Golden Hawks swept the UCC Lancers in High School Girls “AA-AAAA” hoops play. In the Senior girls game Burke Bechard scored 15 to lead the Golden hawks to a 49-37 win over the Lancers. Kennedy King was the top scorer for UCC with 10 points. The Hawks cut down the Pines in the Jr game by a 59-30 score. Jessica Conrad scored 11 points to lead the way for CK and Shelbie Coristine scored 10 for the Lancers.
