Chatham-Kent Secondary School runner Delainey Johnson narrowly missed a medal this weekend at the OFSAA Cross Country Championships in Duntroon, Ontario.

Johnson finished 4th in the Junior girls event with a time of 16:25.06, 23 seconds behind the winner, Mei Mei Weston of Ottawa.

Six other local runners also competed in the OFSAA championships.

CKSS’ Josh Kellier was the next highest local finisher, crossing in 28th in the Senior Boys race. Fellow CKSS senior boy Quinn Cannella was 102nd.

Also running in the Junior girls race, despite being a grade 9, CKSS’ Chloe Pugh finished 142nd.

CKSS’ Cam Ross was 134th in Junior boys, while Pain Court’s Aidan Lachine was 60th in the Midget Boys race.

Ally Oulds of CKSS also qualified to run in the Senior Girls race, finishing 3rd at SWOSSAA, but was unable to compete on Saturday.
