Allin, Handsor Named To All-Rookie Teams: Torrie Handsor. Luke Allin was dominant in his first season of University basketball starring for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, en route to being named to both the CIS and OUA All-Rookie team’s, while Wallaceburg’s Torrie Handsor herself earned a nod being named to the OCAA All-Rookie team, playing for the St. Clair Saints.
Golden Hawks Win OFSAA Bronze: The Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks boys had a memorable March winning OFSAA curling bronze in Brighton, Ontario.
Chatham Makes Final Two in Kraft Hockeyville, Loses Final: Chatham was loud and proud again in online competitions, voting the community, and Memorial Arena to the Final Two in Kraft’s Hockeyville, eventually finishing second, but still winning $100,000 for the rink. The effort was spearheaded by local “Superfan” Chad Peterson.
Montour Signs NHL Contract: After starring at UMass in the NCAA, Brandon Montour, a Tilbury product, quickly ended his NCAA career only months into it, signing his first NHL contract, and immediately jumping to the AHL.
