It was a gold weekend for Wallaceburg thanks to a number of locals. Maddison Broad picking up 2 gold medals at the Eastern National Swimming Championships in Montreal. Broad earned the gold in the 100m and 50m backstroke. Maddy with a personal best in the 100m event.
Peewee Girls Lakers picking up the gold medal at the Walter Gretzky Tournament in Brantford, over the weekend.
The Wallacaburg Minor Midget Lakers picking up a couple of wins over the weekend in the OMHA semi-finals. The Lakers were in Lincoln to play the Blades and grabbed a 3-1 win in game 1 and then a 2-1 overtime win in game 2. Kyle Hooper with the game winner. Game 3 in the series is set for Saturday night at Memorial Arena at 7:20. If needed Game 4 will be on Sunday
Seth Griffith with 2 goals and 3 assists as the Providence Bruins get a 6-3 win over the Hershey Bears last night in AHL action.
Wallaceburg’s Jordon Durston picking with the hat-trick as the Vancouver Stealth up ended the Calgary Roughnecks 14-13 in overtime in the National Lacrosse League on Saturday night.
High School Curling action today will see the Wallaceburg Tartan Boys hitting the ice against UCC #2 team while on the Girls rink it will be UCC #1 playing the Chatham Kent Golden Hawks
