Frank Dymock Classic Feb 12-14

frankdymockThe Frank Dymock Classic returns to Wallaceburg and Walpole Island Friday February 12th through Sunday, February 14th.

Growing rapidly in recent years, the tournament began in 2008 amd expects to draw approximately 1,000 visitors to the area this year with 28 teams registered to take part in tournament play.

Named after local legend Frank Dymock, the tournament that once honoured his work in the community lives on in Frank’s memory. Dymock is the stuff local folklore is made of. A caring and giving proponent of the local community, Dymock sharpened skates free of charge for more than five decades. If you laced up a pair of skates in the ‘Burg, there’s a good chance you had Frank to thank. Dymock passed awat ub December 2013 at the age of 82.

Both Wallaceburg Memorial Arena and the Walpole Island Sports Complex will be utilized for the tournament – with FREE admission to spectators at both rinks. Wallaceburg’s arena will feature several events for the weekend, including fundraisers for the Wallaceburg Hockey Mom. A bake sale, raffle table, hockey stick raffle and 50/50 table will all be set up in the concourse with Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse offering registration Friday from 4pm to 7pm.

The hockey stick raffle will feature signed sticks from TJ Brodie, Seth Griffith, Travis Konecny and the North Bay Battalion, thanks to Matt Rabideau.
