Dane Fox will have a new NHL team to impress, after the forward was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes from the Vancouver Canucks, who signed him two seasons ago.

For Fox, the move will actually be an upgrade in terms of his current team and league, as the 22-year-old forward will be sent to the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers, after spending most of the season a step down in the ECHL with the Kalamazoo Wings.

Traded for future considerations, Fox was leading the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings in goals this season with 26 through 53 games.

A graduate of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones program, Fox was the OHL’s overage player of the year, and led the OHL in goals with the Erie Otters, potting 64 in 2013-2014, before spending last season with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings scoring 30 goals as a professional rookie.
