Wallaceburg Minor Midgets Crowned OMHA Champs

Wallaceburg’s Memorial Arena is about to add a banner.

That banner reads “OMHA CHAMPIONS” after a dramatic overtime win for the Wallaceburg Minor Midget Lakers on Sunday.

The minor midgets are provincial champs thanks to a 4-3 win over the Erin-Hillsburgh Devils. Cullen Bowles was the OT hero, scoring his second of the game.

Wallaceburg was up 3-1 after two periods, but a tough Erin-Hillsburgh team fought back to tie things in regulation, forcing the extra frame.

Elijah Contreras and Kyle Toulouse also scored for Wallaceburg.

The team is coached by Ric Vancoille.
