Locals Win Fanshawe Awards
Four Chatham-Kent athletes, Sheridan Rogers, Derek Braun, Riley Vanderydt, and Andrew Reaume won major team awards at Friday’s Fanshawe College Athletics banquet.
Chatham’s Sheridan Rogers has been named the Fanshawe College Falcons women’s volleyball Rookie of the Year. Rogers and her Fanshawe team won the OCAA bronze medal. Studying general arts and sciences, the 5’4″ alumni of UCC and the Kent Chaos volleyball program, Rogers played libero and setter for Fanshawe.
Ridgetown’s Derek Braun was named the Falcons men’s volleyball MVP. Braun was captain of his Fanshawe team which won OCAA gold and Canadian bronze this season. The 6’5″ middle, who studies business, was among team leaders in blocks, and kill percentage, and was named an OCAA all-star this year.
Bothwell’s Riley Vanderydt (Women’s Soccer rookie of the year) and Wallaceburg’s Andrew Reaume (Golf MVP) also won major awards at Friday’s Fanshawe College Athletics banquet.
