Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad remains golden with a first place finish in the 50 metre backstroke at the age group nationals in Calgary on Thursday.

Coach Kyle Pinsonneault has suggested to CKSN.ca that the 50 metre backstroke is an area where he expects Madison to excel, with a great short distance burst giving her a distinct advantage.

The 15-year-old Chatham Pool Shark now has two medals after two events at nationals, including a silver in the 200m back and now a gold in the 50m back. Broad won a total of five medals last year – three gold, one silver and one bronze.

Genevieve Sasseville finished 8th in the 100 metre free swim on Thursday evening.
