The Chatham-Kent Secondary School senior girls basketball team won the Lester B. Pearson Invitational tournament this weekend in Burlington, Ontario.

In their opening game against Kingsville, CKSS took a dominant 62-22 win. Burke Bechard paced the scoring with 19-points. Jana Kucera had 10, Reagan Kellier 9, and Logan Kucera and Rayne Kellier both with 6.

Facing PECI (Picton) in their second game, Bechard poured in 16-points in a 63-24 CKSS win. Logan Kucera added 9, Jana Kucera had 8, and Avia Stone scored 7-points.

Playing Sydenham in their last tune up before the final, CKSS took a 49-34 victory. Bechard again topped all scorers with 18. Logan Kucera was right behind her with 16 points, while Jana Kucera also hit double digits with 10.

In the final, the CKSS Golden Hawks faced Jean Vanier, a Niagara area school. It was their closest game, coming away with the championship title following a 52-47 decision. Bechard scored 14, Jana Kucera 11, Logan Kucera and Rayne Kellier both had 9, and Avia Stone scored 8.
