Hawks Soar To Tournament Win

The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks senior girls basketball team won the Stratford St. Mike’s Invitational this past weekend.

In the 16 team draw, CKSS opened against St. Thomas Aquanis (Tottenham) winning 57-34. Jessica Jordan paced the scoring with 18, while Logan Kucera had 14, and Burke Bechard 12.

Facing Stratford Northwestern next, CKSS cruised to a 65-17 win.

Jordan again scored 18, with Jana Kucera contributing 12, and Burke Bechard 10-points.

In the semi-finals, Chatham-Kent played a more local foe, defeating St. Pat’s Sarnia 64-47.

Burke Bechard had an incredible game, scoring 27, while Logan Kucera and Rayne Kellier had 8, and Jana Kucera and Jessica Jordan each scored 7

Facing Orillia Secondary in the championship game, CKSS came away with the 50-39 win.

Burke Bechard scored 17, Jana Kucera 8, Rayne Kellier 7, and Logan Kucera and Reagan Kellier 6 in the final.
