McGeen Returns to Chatham Maroons
The Chatham Maroons are beefing up their front line.
The GOJHL team has re-acquired left-winger Teddy McGeen, who became available on the BCHL waiver wire Thursday night.
McGeen moved out west last season to join the Powell River Kings.
“He had aspirations of Division One scholarships, and the BCHL is the premier junior league in Canada,” says Kevin Fisher, Maroons Assistant General Manager. “The ice time out there just wasn’t to his liking, and he thought that he would progress a little further back here in Chatham.”
Fisher says McGeen is a great addition to the team.
“We’re going to get a skilled, fast skating forward that will eventually solidify our penalty-kill. He scored the league leading goals in short-handed goals last year, and basically make us four-lines deep up front.”
McGeen is the second player to be added to the Maroons lineup this week, with 19-year-old forward Ethan Sarfati acquired from Lambton Shores.
Fisher says they are methodically building a team they hope will go deep into the playoffs.
The Maroons are currently third in the Western Conference with a record of 17-6-0-1.
