Wallaceburg Midget Reps Up 2-0 On Petrolia
The Wallaceburg Midget Rep hockey team is looking to repeat as OMHA champions.
The midget rep squad has taken a couple of early strides towards reclaiming their title after jumping out to to a quick two games to none lead over Petrolia in the first round of this year’s OMHA playoffs.
Petrolia got out to an early lead in game one, scoring just over a minute into regulation. The Lakers battled back to tie the game late in the first. The two traded goals in the early goings of the second before the Oilers scored two unanswered to finish the second period up 4-2 over Wallaceburg. Wallaceburg once again fought from behind,with SIX consecutive goals in the third period to take game one by a final of 8-4.
Game two didn’t see quite as much fire power, as the Midget Lakers got on the board early to secure a 1-0 shutout victory and extend their series lead.
Wallaceburg’s next home game is Friday, January 27th with a 9:30 pm start time at Wallaceburg’s Memorial Arena.
Wallaceburg has taken all four points in the series, a race to six points, and are one win away from the second round.
