Maroons Take Commanding Lead
Chatham, who had fought to a pair of one goal games to open their GOJHL Western Conference playoff series against St. Thomas, exploded with a 7-1 win Sunday night at Memorial Arena.
Teddy McGeen scored a pair of third period goals for the Maroons, and also added two assists in the game to lead the way for the Chatham Maroons.
Also scoring for the Maroons were Bobby Harrison, Alec Mackenzie, Kevin Gursoy, Ethan Sarfati, and Nolan VandenBoorn.
Wallaceburg’s Brady Pataki had an assist on St. Thomas’ lone goal. St. Thomas’ roster also included Ridgetown product, and brother of Maroons forward Nolan VandenBoorn, Geoffry VandenBoorn.
Brendan Johnston made 27 saves in front of the 1113 fans in attendance.
The Maroons can close out the best of seven series Tuesday night in St. Thomas in game four. If necessary, game five would return to Chatham Thursday.
