Dawson, McGrail Playing For Sutherland Cup

Local hockey products Kyle Dawson and Trenton McGrail will play with the GOJHL’s London Nationals in search of a Sutherland Cup.

Dawson and the Nationals will face the Elmira Sugar Kings, after both teams won their respective semi-finals.

The former Dresden Kings star, who was the Great Lakes Junior C Rookie of the Year before graduating to the Nationals, has appeared in 17 of the Nationals’ 20 playoff games, recording 2 goals and 2 assists.

A Chatham-Kent Cyclones alumni, and Lambton-Kent Cardinals graduate, Dawson and the Nationals will host Elmira in Game 1, Wednesday, April 26 at 7:30pm, and Saturday, April 29 in London at 7:30pm.

Dawson had 19 goals and 35 points in 48 regular season games for the London Nationals this year.

McGrail has served as the backup for the Nationals throughout the playoffs, and has not been called on to appear in a game. In 15 regular season games he had an 11-2 record with 2 shutouts, a 2.73 GAA and a 0.899 save percentage.
