Chatham’s Grayson Ladd has been drafted by the Kitchener Rangers, 13th overall in the first round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection Draft.

Ladd captained the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team this season, collecting 17 points in 37 regular season and playoff games with the team this season.

He also had 2 points in 7 regular season and playoff games with the Junior B Chatham Maroons of the GOJHL.

A defenseman, Ladd has been praised by scouts for his skating, puck moving ability, and on ice intelligence.

The selection makes him the highest ever current member of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones selected

Ladd was a member of Team Stamkos at the OHL Combine this spring, and gained notoriety last summer playing for TPH Hockey’s U15 team.

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones have produced several OHL draft picks and players in recent seasons including current OHLers Trent Fox, Joseph Raaymakers, Nolan Gardiner, Levi Tetrault, Brendan Harrogate, and James McEwan.
