Seth Griffith Winning The Battle
Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith unfortunately missed out on an NHL playoff experience this season. Additionally, as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Griffith could have grown exponentially along with the young core of the Leafs due to their magical pixy-dust and a thirst-quenching taste of playoff hockey. (man, that was fun, wasn’t it?!)
But as far as longevity is concerned, Griffith is still on the ice.
It’s been a busy year for the former London Knight, who has racked up his Air Miles via the NHL waiver wire. This season saw Griff split time between the NHL’s Boston Bruins, Leafs, and Florida Panthers, before being claimed for the second time this year by Toronto, who assigned him to the AHL’s Marlies.
While the Panthers missed the post-season, the Bruins were eliminated by Ottawa and Toronto was edged in a dramatically entertaining series with Washington, Seth is still playing alongside the Marlies.
The Marlies are deadlocked at one game a piece in their opening round best-of-five playoff series with the Albany Devils, the AHL affiliate of New Jersey. Griffith has one assist through two playoff games and continued garnering attention through his regular season with the Marlies. Seth racked up 10 goals and 34 assists for 44 points in 38 games in the AHL after being re-claimed by Toronto.
Griffith will be leaned upon through the playoff drive, continuing with game three on Wednesday (Apr 26).
The local C-K product may not be exactly where he intended to be, but unlike members of his former clubs, he’s still on the ice with a chance to shine.
