The Chatham Strikers girls U16 soccer team won their third consecutive Competitive Tier 1 League Champions and District Challenge Cup Championships this weekend.

The Strikers claimed the title with a league record of 12 wins and 1 loss. They accumulated a total of 83 goals for with 12 of 16 players on the score sheet. Six Strikers were within the top 10 goal scorers of the league including Jessica Conrod (22), Taryn Dudley (12), Payton Sabourin (10), Kayla Coates (7), Alexa Arbour (5), and Emma Doom (5).

The team’s defensive line of Clair Boughner, Alison Stephens, Joelle Tetrault, and Emmi Timmermans were outstanding all season helping keepers Hunter Gagner and Joelle Tetrault to lead the league with 8 shutouts in total. They allowed only 5 goals all season.

The Strikers also featured an experienced midfield including Alexa Arbour, Emily Barstead, Jessica Conrod, Shelbie Coristine, Taryn Dudley, Kennedey Jack, and Payton Sabourin, allowing them to control the pitch in every game this season.

Chatham’s U16 team is now qualified to play Regionally in the WRSL (Western Region Soccer League) August 19 and 20. The Strikers capped off their season defeating Taxandria Falcons 8-1 and Southwest Fusion 6-0 to become the 2017 District Cup Champions.
