Joseph Raaymakers might not know where he’ll play this season, but for the time being, that will not be a concern, as the 19-year-old netminder will play for the Tampa Bay Lightning in an NHL Rookie Tournament in Florida.

Raaymakers was one of 24-players named to Tampa Bay’s Rookie Tournament roster in Estero, Florida from September 9 to September 12.

Tampa Bay’s prospect team will play exhibition games against the Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, and Washington Capitals.

For Raaymakers, who has spent the past three seasons with the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, this will be his second time on the ice with the Lightning, as he skated at the team’s annual Development Camp in June.

The other goalie for the Lightning at the tournament is Tampa Bay draft pick Connor Ingram. Ingram, a third round pick of the Lightning in 2016, helped Canada to a silver medal at the World Junior Championships last year. He’s expected to play for the Lightning’s AHL affiliate in Syracuse this season.

Raaymakers, who had a 3.38 GAA and .889 save percentage in 41 games for the Greyhounds last season, before putting in a sparkling playoff performance with a 1.95 GAA and .942 save percentage in 10 games, earning himself CHL Goaltender of the Week honours once.

Recently, Raaymakers requested a trade from the Greyhounds, in order to gain more playing time, and avoid conflict with Los Angeles Kings prospect Matt Villalta, who will also return to the Soo this season.
