CKSS Sends Several To OFSAA, Pegg Wins SWOSSAA

Chatham-Kent Secondary School’s Emma Pegg highlighted a successful day at the SWOSSAA cross country championships in Windsor Wednesday for the CKSS Golden Hawks.

Pegg’s win in the midget girls race, crossing the line in 15:25.2, was the top local finish. Her CKSS Midget Girls team captured the SWOSSAA title, qualifying for OFSAA as a group, including 5th place finisher Genevieve Sasseville, 6th place runner Alyssa Robinson, and 23rd place finisher Maggie Tunks. Jocelyn Pettipiece was the 5th member of the CKSS team.

CKSS’ Cam Ross and Thador Tekhli both qualified for OFSAA in the senior boys race finishing 5th (19:26.2) and 6th (19:26.2).

CKSS’ Adrian Stubberfield qualified for OFSAA in the Junior boys race, finishing 11th with a time of 17:46.8.

UCC’s Brooke MacLeod finished 7th in the Junior girls race to qualify for OFSAA, running the 5km race in 20:24.0.

The top two teams from each division advance to OFSAA, as well as the top 5 finishers not on those teams.

The 2017 OFSAA cross country championships are in Petewawa, Ontario November 4.
