Maroons Add Goaltender
The fourth place Chatham Maroons have added a new face and a new goaltender.
The Maroons announced the addition of netminder John Massara on Wednesday morning.
The import player, from Fenton, Missiouri is a 19-year-old backstop, who suited up for the Soo Eagles of the NOJHL. While the 5’10”, 154 pound Massara only saw one game of action for the Eagles, he previously showcased his abilities with the Omaha AAA Under-18 squad in the NAPHL last season. Massara amassed a record of 6-2 with a 1.94 GAA and .902 save percentage with one shutout in nine games.
Massara is expected to be a back-up to Ryan Wagner, who has been steady for the Maroons through 14 games this season. Wagner is 8-6-0-1 with a 3.29 GAA and a .904 save percentage.
Chatham is back in action on Saturday, traveling to Strathroy before returning home for their regular Sunday tilt, hosting St Thomas at Memorial Arena.
