The CKSS Golden Hawks girls hockey team went 5-0-1 Tuesday and Wednesday to win the top tier of the Crusader Cup in London.

In pool play, CKSS defeated Guelph Centennial 4-1, St. Marcellinus (Mississauga) 6-1, and Notre Dame (Sudbury) 1-0, and tied St. Peter’s (Peterborough) 0-0.

Marandee Hunter registered both of the pool play shutouts.

Facing London’s Mother Theresa in the semi-final, the Hawks won 3-1, with goals by Megan Hakr, Carly Belanger, and Camille Blain.

Advancing to the final against also undefeated St. Peter’s, in a rematch of their pool play tie, the Hawks came away with a 2-0 win. Payton Sabourin scored both goals and Mikayla Demaiter registered the shutout.

CKSS beat three teams who qualified for OFSAA last season en route to this tournament win.

The Hawks are back in action next Tuesday for league play against the Ridgetown Royals.
