The CKSS Hawks won the Southern Ontario Hockey Classic

The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks won the Southern Ontario Classic in Windsor for the second year in a row this week, going 5-0 on their way to a championship.

In round robin play, the Hawks shutout L’Essor 1-0, beat St. Joseph’s 3-2, and shutout Holy Names 3-0.

Finishing first in their pool, CKSS played Brennan in the semi-final, winning 3-0. Marandee Hunter picked up the shutout, while Maia Collins, Hunter Gagner, and Payton Sabourin had the goals.

Facing Villanova in the championship, the Hawks carried the play, but had a hard time beating a strong goaltender. In the third period, Sabourin scored the goals only game, while Hunter again had the shutout, leading CKSS to the title 1-0.
