Maroons Open Semi-Finals Tonight!
The Chatham Maroons and London Nationals open the GOJHL Western Conference Semi-Finals tonight in London.
Chatham is coming off a momentous seven-game, come-from-behind series win, upsetting LaSalle in the first round.
The Nationals are the top seeded team in the West, finishing first through the regular season with a record of 35-12-0-3.
Chatham’s success away from Memorial Arena may be key to keeping up with the top-ranked Nationals. The Maroons had a rough time on the road this year, going 4-18-1-2, but managed to split four games on the road with LaSalle in the opening round, going 2-2.
London only allowed 6 goals in their four game sweep of Strathroy.
The Nationals put the Maroons on notice in the regular season, winning all six of their match-ups and outscoring Chatham 41-19.
Chatham will be showcasing a tribute to former Maroon great, the late Ken Houston. A special remembrance sticker will be worn on the Maroons helmets in memory Houston, who passed away on Saturday.
Puck drop is 7:30 tonight (Wednesday, March 14) at the Western Fair Sports Centre in London.
