Cougars Prowling Toward Western Conference Final
After falling behind early, the Cougars stormed back for a 43-20 win.
“Had a slow start in the first half losing 7-1 at the half. But loved how our players responded in the 2nd taking the lead and not looking back,” said head coach Selwyn Jordan.
“We could really feel the energy from the crowd. We will need that energy this Sunday at 7pm as we play the Sault Ste. Marie who beat us earlier in the season.”
The Cougars, who a are 7-1, suffered their only loss to the Sault Ste. Marie Sabercats earlier this year.
Against Brantford, Ethan Ciupka had two touchdowns, while Nakoma Scott, Bennett Schaffer, Tyler Shumanski, and Logan Stefina also scored TDs.
Tanner Hoorelbeck led the defense with 12 tackles, and an interception, while Trevor Lawton and Logan Stefina both had 7 tackles.
The Junior Varsity Chatham-Kent Cougars play the Western Conference final Sunday August 5th at 7pm at the Chatham-Kent Community Athletic Complex.
In other football news, the Bantam Chatham-Kent Cougars were eliminated in a 28-14 loss to the Brantford Bisons.
