Maroons Win Preseason Home Opener

The Chatham Maroons rode 15-year-old Deni Goure to a 6-4 preseason win over the St. Thomas Stars Sunday afternoon in Chatham.

Goure, who will play for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team this season, as he is too young to play Junior, scored a pair of goals in the win, including the game winning goal.

Cam Welch and Zack Power had a goal and an assist each, while Kaleb Theissen and Dawson Garcia had the other Chatham goals.

Tristan Lewis made 33 saves in net.

Chatham hosts the Leamington Flyers Tuesday for a preseason game at 7:30pm at Thames Campus Arena.
