UCC Wrestlers Successful In Sarnia

UCC had 13 wrestlers compete at the Sarnia Invitational tournament at St. Patricks on Saturday January 12. Ten finished in the top 4 at this tournament that had representatives from as far away as Hamilton and Michigan.

Zachary Parent was the only gold medalist for the Lancers. UCC also had four Silver medalists – Maddison Segeren (Charing Cross), Kayla Smith (Ridgetown), Vanessa Devolder, and Daniel Crummer.

Bronze medalists were Darius Benoit-Pough (Erieau), Hanna Srokosz (Erieau) and Victoria Armstrong.

Fourth place finishes were achieved by Khun-Dte Jung and Ryan Geniole.

This was the last school based tournament before the LKSSAA regionals which will be held at UCC for the first time ever on Wednesday February 13, 2019.

Some of the UCC team are also involved with the local Chatham-Wrestling club. The club will be sending several wrestlers to compete at the Cadet/Juvenile Provincial Championships in Brampton on February 2, 2019.
