Medal Haul For Local Track Athletes
Several local athletes brought home a medal haul.
Continuing her successful summer, Morpeth’s Emma Pegg won the girls U18 1500m and 800m races in 4:36.37 and 2:08.25 respectively.
Jeremy Vandenboorn took gold, silver, and a bronze home. He won the boys U16 discus throwing 44.98m. He also grabbed shot put silver and hammer throw bronze.
Kyra Vellinga was the only other Chatham-Kent product to win a gold, representing the St. Thomas Legion Track & Field team in the 1600m sprint medley.
A trio of athletes won bronze medals, including Ayden Blain (U16 100m hurdles), Jaden Wilson (U18 110m hurdles), and Anna Kistulinec (U16 pole vault).
Also, Adrian Stubberfield and Evan Minnie helped the U18 Windsor Legion team win bronze in the 4x800m relay.
