Sharks Weather Blades’ Third Period Storm

The Wheatley Sharks were able to hold off a third period a third period comeback and leave town with a 4-3 win. The Blades went into the third period trailing by 3-0 score.

Seth Henderson got the Blades on the board at the 6:17 mark of the third. Two minutes later Matt Cunningham brought the Blades within one goal of the Sharks. Blenheim really had the momentum going for them and were pushing to tie the game. At 10:21 Blades Malcolm Campbell tied the game at 3-3. Unfortunately for the Blades, the Sharks again took the lead when Lucas Poisson scored a beauty at 15:51, and that would be the winning goal.

The Blades did pull their goaltender and had a chance to tie it in the dying seconds.

The Sharks opened the scoring at the 17:27 mark of the first, when Alex Saliba scored. The Sharks dominated the shot count in the first by 10-2. Shannon Olson put the Sharks up by 2-0 score when he found the back of the net 1:38 into the second. Braedon Caetano who played most of this season with the Maroons, scored a power play goal at 11:58 to put Sharks up 3-0.

Blenheim has three regular season games left, and are off till February 5, when they travel to Mooretown to face the 2nd place Flags.

They then travel to Petrolia on the 6th to play the Flyers, before returning home Sun, Feb 9th for their final
regular season game against Essex. The Blades are currently sitting in 7th place, 1-point ahead of the Dresden Kings, and 3-points behind the sixth place Flyers. Both Dresden and Petrolia have one game in hand over the Blades.
