Agosta Left Off Cancelled World Championship Roster
They won’t get the opportunity to play at the 2020 Women’s World Hockey Championships, but former Chatham hockey star Meghan Agosta wasn’t scheduled to play anyway as she was left off Canada’s roster.
“Hockey Canada is always proud to recognize the accomplishment of athletes selected to compete on a National team. The unfortunate events that led to the postponement of the 2020 Women’s World Hockey Championships in Halifax and Truro doesn’t take away from that,” said Scott Smith, president and chief operating officer of Hockey Canada in a video release.
Agosta was not among the 23 players named for the now postponed tournament.
Agosta, a former Chatham Outlaws and Chatham-Kent Cyclones player has won two World Championship gold medals and six silver medals with Canada. She also owns three Olympic gold medals and a silver.
The reasoning for Agosta’s omission from the roster was not made clear.
The tournament was slated to start March 31.
