What My Sports World Would Usually Look Like This Time Of Year

By Bill Cole

This is usually one of my favourite sports days of the year.

I get to sit down with a sharpie and 4 copies of the NCAA tournament bracket and break em down. I love looking for those 12 seeds over 5s and you know they are out there. I would be looking at the final stats from the players championship, not for the winner, but to see who is rounding into shape just a few weeks from the masters.

I would be lamenting what I assumed would be a Leafs loss in Boston Saturday night.

And prepping for my fantasy baseball league draft coming up on Thursday night. Me and 9 guys who all played in the major leagues. Not exactly a fair fight but I love the challenge.

But instead.. I’m doing none of that . As we know the sports world is on hiatus until further notice because of a virus that is killing people around the world. And I’m good with that. We have seen a hint of this during 9-11 but that was a drop in the bucket compared to this worldwide shutdown. People like me who make a living covering sports love to say.. Sports brings us together so we can forget about our problems for a couple of hours and that’s worth a lot. In this case sports is keeping us all apart. And that’s worth everything.
