Degelas, Waddick Players To Watch For 2021 OHL Draft

Brayden Degelas of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones

Declan Waddick and Brayden Degelas won’t wait long to hear their names called at the 2021 OHL Draft.

Although it’s a long way off, the duo set themselves apart in the Alliance Hockey U15 loop this season, and look to do the same at the U16 bracket this year.

Both players were listed in Prospect Pipeline’s Top 60 players to watch for the 2021 draft.

About Degelas, who led the Chatham-Kent Cyclones U15 team in scoring this season, Prospect Pipeline had this to say.

“There’s nothing quite like an offensive threat who can shoot the puck as well as distribute it, but that is exactly what you get in Brayden Degelas.”

“Owing to his terrific vision, Degelas sees the ice well and can anticipate the play as it develops — a reality which allows him to generate time and space will maximizing the skills of his fellow teammates.”

Degelas had the most assists in the Alliance this season, and had 52 points in 32 games.

Waddick, who topped all goal scorers in the Alliance with 32 in 30 games, and 56 points, will likely be the highest picked local player.

He suited up last season for the Sun County Panthers.

“Well-known for his strong two-way game, Waddick also happens to be a dynamic offensive star who boasts the high-end skill necessary to fuel his team’s offensive attack,” said the Prospect Pipeline story.

If their top 60 touting sticks, both players would find themselves selected in the top 3 rounds of the draft.
