Brendan Mairs Signs To Play Junior A With The AJHL’s Brooks Bandits
Chatham born hockey player Brendan Mairs will play Junior A in Alberta next season after signing with the AJHL’s Brooks Bandits.
Mairs led the GOJHL’s Strathroy Rockets in scoring last season, scorching the league with 27 goals and 56 points in only 50 games.
“I chose Brooks because I feel they can give me the best opportunity to move forward with my hockey career,” said Mairs.
Mairs has his eyes set on a college hockey career. Although he enjoyed his time in Strathroy, he also has his eyes focused on the future.
“I’ve spoken with most people in the organization and they all seem very welcoming and supportive towards me and my play. I’ve never had more fun playing hockey than I did in Strathroy, but I feel that it’s time to move away and give myself a better chance at a future in hockey.”
Last season was Mairs’ second season in the GOJHL with Strathroy. The former London Knights 7th round OHL pick had 38 points in 48 games as a 16-year-old rookie.
