Brett Brochu A Prospect For This Week’s NHL Draft

Brett Brochu has outperformed expectations at every level.

He starred for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones in his minor midget year. The London Knights surprised many taking the small and competitive netminder in the 6th round of the OHL Draft.

Brochu then stole the show with the Dresden Kings, earning PJHL Stobbs Division Rookie of the Year honours for his rookie Junior C season.

This season, Brochu sent his crease competitors with the London Knights packing, including an NHL draft pick, stealing the starters job.

He posted the top goals against average (2.40) in the OHL, and won the Dinty Moore Trophy for the best GAA by a rookie netminder. He was also named to the OHL First All-Rookie team, and was one of only 5 goalies invited to Hockey Canada’s World Junior summer camp.

Although the Central Scouting Rankings don’t appear in Brochu’s favour, being ranked 29th among North American goalies, and the only sub-six-foot netminder on the list, Brochu has continued to surprise and dominate at every level.

The NHL Draft will take place October 6 and 7, with round 1 occuring October 6, and rounds 2-7 occurring on the 7th.
