Matthieu Gaudrault Continues To Climb The Hockey Ladder
Chatham’s Matthieu Gaudrault will be playing a long way from home this year when the puck drops on his EOJHL season.
Gaudrault recently signed with the EOJHL’s Valley Timberwolves Junior B team for the coming season.
“I chose to come up here and play because it’s something new and I’m very excited to see where it takes me,” Gaudrault said, also explaining he had intended to attend school in Ottawa before COVID hit.
“My goals for the season are to become a better player all around, this is my second year of junior hockey and I’m hoping it’ll develop me better as a player for the next few years to come.”
Gaudrault’s rookie Junior season was spent with the Dresden Jr. Kings where he scored 15 points in 33 games. He also appeared in 4 games with the Chatham Maroons.
“The Dresden Kings was a very good organization, I enjoyed playing for them last year the players and coaches were all very close to each other,” Gaudrault said. “The season was very fun we all had a good time together.”
An alumni of both the Chatham-Kent Cyclones and London Jr. Knights ‘AAA’ programs, and a graduate of Ecole Secondaire de Pain Court, Gaudrault continues to move along in his hockey career, and he hopes the Valley Timberwolves are yet another stepping stone to a higher level.
“My goals after this season are to play for the Junior A team here in Ottawa (Renfrew Wolves), they are a very skilled team and from what I’ve seen a very good organization. I’m hoping to play a couple games with them this year and then next year play for them.”
