U16 Ballhawks Win Provincial Bronze

The 16U Chatham Ballhawks girls volleyball team captured bronze for Divisoin 2 Tier 1 this past week in Waterloo at the RIM Centre.   

Overall through 3 days of matches the team finished with an 8-2 record.

On Day 1 Chatham lost 0-2 to Storm Fury [Aurora], and defeated Forest City [London]  2-1 and Smash Vortex [Hamilton] 2-0.

After being re-pooled for the second day of competition, the Ballhawks beat Leaside [Toronto] 25-11, 25-19, Georgetown 25-11, 25-16 and Synergy Titanium [Scarborough] 25-19, 19-25, 16-14 to go undefeated.

Day 3 saw elimination matches. Chatham won against Vision [North Bay] 25-20, 25-12 in the round of sixteen, before sweeping Venom [Richmond Hill] 25-14, 25-17 in the quarterfinals.

Facing Smash Vortex [Hamilton] in the semis, who Chatham had defeated in pool play, the Ballhawks fell in two close games 24-26, 24-26 sending them to the bronze medal match.

Playing for bronze against Thundercats [Richmond Hill], Chatham won 25-23, 25-20 to secure the medal.
