Brett Brochu Named To World Junior Roster
Brett Brochu was named to Canada’s World Junior Championship roster for the upcoming tournament in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
Brochu was the OHL Goaltender of the Year this season after a spectacular run with the London Knights collecting a 2.75 GAA and .919 save percentage along with a 29-11-2 record.
Brochu recently attended development camp with the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks.
He started one game, against Austria at the cancelled World Junior tournament this winter picking up a win.
This time, Brochu will attend camp with the Vancouver Canucks.
Prior to the pandemic cancelled OHL season, Brochu was named to the OHL’s All-Rookie Team and awarded the Dinty Moore Trophy for owning the OHL’s best GAA by a rookie. He also led the OHL in GAA that season. He spent last season practicing with the AHL’s Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Penguins, appearing in one game for the team.
Prior to the OHL, Brochu played for the Dresden Kings and Chatham-Kent Cyclones.
The 2022 World Junior Championship runs from August 9 to August 20. The other goaltenders named to Team Canada were Detroit Red Wings first round pick Sebastian Cossa and New York Rangers fourth round selection Dylan Garand.
