Maroons fall to the Rockets 3-1
The Maroons travelled to the West Middlesex Memorial Arena Tuesday night with the opportunity to move into a tie for fifth place with the Rockets.
Instead, they left four points behind Strathroy and tied for sixth place with the St. Thomas Stars.
The Maroons outshot the Rockets 34 – 26. However, they only went one for 8 eight on the power play including 0-2 in the third period.
Maroons goaltender Trevor Heslop stopped 23 of the Rocket’s 26 shots.
All of the scoring took place in the second period with Strathroy leading 3-0 before Noah Mathieson (11) got the Maroons on the board at 18:40.
Matthew Cunningham (10) and Blain Bacik (17) assisted on the power play marker.
Strathroy goaltender Hayden Duncan stopped 33 of 34 shots in route to picking up the win.
Chatham will get the chance to move ahead of St. Thomas Thursday night when they travel to Sarnia. Game time in Sarnia is 7:10 p.m. at the Pat Stapleton Arena.
