Pair of Maroons to play in St. Andrew’s College MacPherson Challenge
Two Chatham Maroons have been named to the leadership team for a prestigious junior hockey tournament.
The St. Andrew’s College MacPherson Challenge returns this year for the 39th annual event after a two-year hiatus, featuring some of the best under-18 talent from Ontario, Alberta, and the northeastern United States.
Among those suiting up for the GOJHL will be Maroons defenceman Liam Doyle and forward David Brown as alternate captains.
Leamington Flyers’ forward Ryan MacPherson has been named captain, and Joe Macchione of the Fort Erie Meteors will also serve as an alternate, rounding out the GOJHL contingent.
The tournament is a haven for scouts at all levels of hockey right from major junior up to professional hockey. In 2019, scouts from each NHL team, 20 OHL teams and 12 NCAA schools made appearances.
